Mackenzie “Kenzie” Smith
Attorney

Mackenzie “Kenzie” Smith advises investors, founders, and growing companies on a broad range of general business transactions and corporate law, including day-to-day commercial contracts, entity formation, corporate governance, buy- and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. She brings a practitioner’s discipline and an operator’s pragmatism across the business lifecycle, from initial structuring to post-closing integration. Kenzie’s background as a CPA and in healthcare transactions refines her approach with complex commercial arrangements, strategic transactions, and governance in regulated environments. She advises founders, owners, and managers with a personal goal of continued growth from the ground up to the most complicated business decisions.
Kenzie began her law career in Denver, guiding clients on corporate governance, capital raises, and mergers and acquisitions for private equity sponsors and founder-led businesses. Previously, she served as an in-house legal clerk at a cloud-based retail management software company, mitigating risk exposure, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting contract negotiation.
Prior to law school, Kenzie worked at a national public accounting firm as a Certified Public Accountant. This experience enhances her ability to assist clients with transaction structuring, waterfall mechanics, and investor communications.
Kenzie earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. She holds an M.A. and a B.A., cum laude, from Millsaps College. She is admitted to practice in the state of Colorado.
Kenzie boldly embraces her Louisiana roots, finding the best restaurants in the metro area and traveling around the globe with her family and friends.
